The Hyena is known for its laughing ~ the noises it makes that are interpreted as mirth and joviality.
But behind the laugh hides the real hyena, a soft and gentle creature simply making its way in this world. When the mask of mirth drops, the hyena can be its real, authentic self.
Happiness for every creature only comes from true authenticity, and we too, are happiest when we are being our most real.
This does not mean you need to share all of you with everyone, but in those moments where you feel yourself hiding away, where you feel yourself saying ‘yes’ when you mean ‘no’, when you feel yourself agreeing when in reality you disagree, that is the moment to take yourself off to a quiet space and gently talk to that fearful part of you, the part of you that thinks ‘if I show the real me, if I show my real thoughts, I will no longer be loved.’
Hold yourself tightly in these moments, breath deeply, place your hand on your heart, and remind yourself that you are loved by a force so great it has no true name. A force so grand and alive that it animates every part of you. A force that existed before time and will continue to exist beyond time. This force knows only the greatest unconditional love and sees you only with love.
For a few moments welcome in this force, welcome in this love, and let yourself feel it. Know that you are safe to be you, know that you are safe to speak as you, know that you are held, always.
